This basic pound cake can be fancied up in any way that suits your imagination.
1 cup butter, softened
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup milk
(Optional) - If you would like to decorate the bundt cake like in the image to make it fancier, you can double the recipe and make 2 bundt cakes, and cut them into their own sections to decorate around the cake.
(Optional) - Serve with whipping cream and fresh fruit.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease with butter and flour a bundt pan and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, mix together the sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla using an electric mixer on low, until well blended. Once blended, mix for another 5 minutes on high.
Change mixer to low and add in the flour, part of the milk, followed by the baking powder and the rest of the milk, beating well after each addition.
Pour the batter into the bunt pan and bake for 65-75 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
If the top is over browning, you can tent it with aluminum foil.
Cool for 15 minutes and then invert onto a cake plate to finish cooling.
